Paul King commented on GROOVY-8349:
-----------------------------------

Interesting! We have tried to track such changes ourselves but in all honesty have not been rigorous enough in checking this for every release.

I'll have to look into the results in a bit more detail - some of the flagged errors don't correspond to any source code changes (there were changes to comments only for instance). I'll have to look into why - perhaps we changed something in the compiler - I only looked at examples corresponding to Groovy source files so far.

> Hi,
> Here is the report on API changes and backward binary compatibility for Groovy: https://abi-laboratory.pro/java/tracker/timeline/groovy/
> The report is generated by the https://github.com/lvc/japi-compliance-checker tool for jars at https://dl.bintray.com/groovy/maven/ according to the article https://wiki.eclipse.org/Evolving_Java-based_APIs_2.
> Hope it will be helpful for users and maintainers of the library to be aware of past and future API changes.
> Please let me know if the tool should not check some parts of the API (it checks all public API methods and classes by default).
> Thank you.
