[ANN] Groovy 1.8 support in Groovy-Eclipse

Andrew Eisenberg
Hi all,

Groovy 1.8 support is now available in Groovy-Eclipse as an optional
add on.  You must install from the snapshot update site and explicitly
include the 1.8 compiler (under the extra compilers section).

The update site for Eclipse 3.6 is here:
http://dist.codehaus.org/groovy/distributions/greclipse/snapshot/e3.6/

And the update site for Eclipse 3.7 is here:
http://dist.codehaus.org/groovy/distributions/greclipse/snapshot/e3.7/

More detailed information is here:
http://docs.codehaus.org/display/GROOVY/Compiler+Switching+within+Groovy-Eclipse

The 1.8 compiler support is still experimental, so don't hesitate to
reply with questions, rants, or raves about this feature.  Hack away!

thanks,
--a

Nice Andrew, just installed and now syntax errors in STS for 1.8 Annotation closures are gone ;--)

@Require({it ==~ /[a-zA-z]/}) // no more syntax error
String name

Thanks!!
